Mount Juneau in Mist

Mount Juneau in Mist
The little story behind the work is a moment in downtown Juneau, back in 2019. Nestled between the ocean and towering mountains, Juneau is a small, isolated city where roads are carved directly into steep, rising slopes.
Out for errands one day, getting back into my car when I looked up at the looming slopes of Mt. Juneau. Not surprisingly, it was gray and rainiy, with a cold mist moving slowly over the slopes populated with Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock, among a few other species.
Catching sight of the dark trees against the light gray and white of fog shapes in and around the tree stopped me in my tracks for a few minutes, just gazing at it.
Thinking it had great potential for a watercolor painting, I snapped a few pics with my phone and went on with my day. But I did not forget about it.
